Gil Orcilla, the visionary Founder and President of Upskill Ops, has dedicated his career to transforming STEM education and empowering the next generation of innovators.  With rich background in both the private and public sectors, Gil brings a unique blend of technical expertise and leadership experience to his role.

Born in Manila, Philippines, Gil’s journey began with strong foundation in computer science, computer engineering, and civil engineering.  From 1995 to 2004, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a Space Ops guy, gaining valuable experience in technology and operations management.  His military service instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, leadership, and commitment to excellence.  

After his military career, Gil made significant contributions to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he honed his skills in innovation and technology.  This diverse background laid the groundwork for his passion in bridging the gap between education and real-world application in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Before founding Upskill Ops, Gil owned and operated a Mathnasium franchise, where he focused on enhancing student’s math skills through personalized and engaging instructions.  This experience deepened his understanding of the challenges students face in math education and solidified his commitment to making a difference.

In addition to his work with Mathnasium, Gil participated in the XC Super School competition in New York, aiming to redesign high school curricula to better prepare students fro the future.  His involvement in this national initiative underscore his dedication to educational reform and his drive to create learning environments that are relevant, engaging, and effective.

Gil’s leadership at Upskill Ops is characterized by his commitment to educational equity and his drive to provide high-quality tutoring, mentorship, and ups killing opportunities. He has successfully launched and scaled Upskill Ops, achieving significant growth in student enrollment and community impact.  His efforts include designing and overseeing comprehensive educational programs, leveraging advanced technologies, and fostering partnership with educational institutions and industry leaders.

Under his guidance, Upskill Ops focuses on enhancing teacher training, developing engaging curricula, and offering personalized instruction to cater to the diverse needs of learners.  Gil’s work extends beyond traditional education, encompassing advanced courses in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, data analytics/data science, cybersecurity, quantum computing, software engineering, & systems engineering, preparing students for future careers in STEM fields.
